Bio
Bahar Ansari is an attorney, author, founder, and teacher who has built her career on a single idea: that the law should make sense to the people it affects.
She grew up in Iran, under the Islamic Republic, where traditions run deep, culture is strong, and religious rule is imposed. So she learned early to question everything, to separate what had to be done from what only could be done, and to build her own values from the ground up. She came to the United States as a teenager and found that a system is a system. That instinct, to understand how things really work and decide for herself what to keep, never left her, and it shapes everything she does.
She got her start as a journalist, winning recognition for her writing, before going into law. She earned her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Whittier Law School, where she served as a Law Review editor, and her LL.M.s from UCLA in Tax Law and in International & Comparative Law.
Tax law is the machinery of the U.S. system: the financial and economic rules of how money and resources are structured, taxed, and protected. International and comparative law is the machinery of the international system, where human rights live in the fine print of treaties that cross borders. The result is a systems mind with a lawyer's rigor, a journalist's clarity, and a fierce sense of fairness.
Today she is the founder of her own law firm, 2nd.law, where she practices business law, and extraordinary-talent and investment-based immigration. Over her career she has guided founders, creators, and exceptional talent, from high-growth companies to award-winning artists, through the legal and strategic decisions that shape what they build.
She also co-founded a legal-technology company, using AI to make legal services more accessible. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Law.com, and Stanford Law’s CodeX, and she has been named one of the “Top 6 Women in Law Changing the Legal Industry.” She has spoken on law, technology, and business at the American Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and Stanford University.
She believes the training and the resources she’s built come with a responsibility to use them well, for her clients and for the causes and communities she cares about.
It’s the same conviction that runs through her book, Lawve Letters, and her Lawvely podcast: that the most fundamental right of all is simply knowing you have rights, and that everyone deserves a guide who makes the law clear, human, and theirs.
